Fires of Surrender

DEFIANT TO THE LAST Kathryn McLeod's heart sank as she watched the horsemen approach Edinburgh with their banners flying and sunlight glinting off their armor. The war which had torn Scotland asunder was over --- and the despised James IV now ruled. The auburn-haired beauty braced herself for the worst, for her family could expect no mercy from the usurper. But nothing could have prepared her for Donovan McAdam. The handsome knight had conquered her beloved city --- now he claimed her as his prisoner as well. And though she vowed to remain defiant to the last, she saw in his eyes the intent to possess her, and she couldn't suppress the shameful tingle of anticipation that swept through her traitorous flesh.

ARROGANT FROM THE FIRST Donovan wanted Kathryn from the first moment he saw her standing proudly before him, her green eyes flashing with fury. He intended to marry her --- but she did not need to know that just yet. First he would tame her, then he would make her his willing bride. He would humble her with her own heart's yearnings, conquer her with her own sweet passions, until she no longer wished to escape his bed. Then, and only then, would he pledge to share his life --- and his love --- forevermore.
