Reader and author accounts
One account type per person: readers read, review and request ARCs; authors publish, run campaigns and write the Journal. A reader can upgrade once.

A Booklabria account is either a reader account or an author account — you pick when you sign up, and there is no switch between the two views.
- A reader account has onboarding, Reading Life posts, shelves and reading progress, reviews, Goals, Insights, Wraps, and ARC reading.
- An author account has a pen name, a public author page, the Author Journal, the catalogue and series, ARC campaigns, Official Circles and Studio analytics. Authors keep a library, reviews, follows and ARC reading; they post in the Journal rather than Reading Life, and Goals, Insights and Wraps are reader features.
A reader can upgrade to an author account from For authors — see Becoming an author. The upgrade keeps your library, reviews and follows. It cannot be reversed from the product.
