Letter to Readers
Two weeks after Aperture, and a thing about credit
Dear reader,
It has been two weeks since the trilogy went out into the world, all three books in one weekend, and I have finally stopped refreshing the page to see whether it is still there. It is. I checked once more just now.
I want to say one thing about why I wrote these, now that the ending is public and I can talk about it a little.
I wrote them for the woman whose name never makes the masthead. The one who does the work in the dark and turns off the lights and lets someone else take the bow, because being indispensable feels safer than being seen. I have known a few of her. I have been her. Celeste's whole arc, across three books, is learning that she was never auditioning for permission to exist. She was always allowed.
And Dominic's arc is the mirror of it: a man who believes that the moment you are truly known, you are owned. Both of them are wrong in ways that fit together exactly. That is the only kind of love story I know how to write.
If you read all three, thank you. If you are still in book one, do not scroll down on anything I post for a while. I will try to behave.

Yours,Vivienne E. Cole
